The $100,000.00 prize has been awarded to The Alchemist Agenda, written and directed by Martin Jay Weiss, one of the first known feature-length movies created from original artwork in motion comic form.
The Alchemist Agenda test movie has already been one of the most viewed movies on Amazon Instant Video this year, and has helped solicit feedback to further develop a live-action version.
“Full-length test movies will show stories up on their feet and attract helpful feedback at an early stage, Roy Price, director of Amazon Studios, said in a statement. “We hope that Amazon Studios will help filmmakers experiment and collaborate and we look forward to developing hit movies.”
The motion comic was produced by Martin Jay Weiss of Martini Shot Films and Yesenia Higuera and Benjamin Price of The Hive. “It was an exciting challenge finding the right style of artwork and completing full post in such a short amount of time,” said Yesenia Higuera, editor and post supervisor on the project. “The goal of the motion comic was to create a blueprint for the film version. Everything from the sound design to the final edit was carefully crafted,” added Benjamin Price.
